• Loretta Alexander, 68, Grand Junction, died at her home on Jan. 23, 2009.
Services will take place at 10 a.m. Friday at Martin Mortuary Chapel.
Survivors include her husband, William; two daughters, Tammy Burbridge of Montrose and Patty Davis of Clifton; one brother, Bob Wentzel of Fruita; two sisters, Margie Foster of Hickory, N.C. and Darlene Scott; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

• Alvin Hosier, 88, Grand Junction, died Jan. 22, 2009, at St. Mary’s Hospital.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Orchard Mesa Cemetery.
Mr. Hosier was a technician.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Marie; one stepson Paul Pletka of Santa Fe, N.M.; and one stepdaughter, Jan Johnson of Grand Junction.

• Elizabeth M. Jennings, 77, Collbran, died in Fruita on Jan. 23, 2009.
No services are planned.
Ms. Jennings was a sculptor.
Survivors include her two sons, Paul of Collbran and John of Portland, Ore.; one sister, Barbara Wilson of Lama, N.M.; and two grandchildren.

• Louis Van Shirlen Sr., 57, Palisade, died Jan. 23, 2009, at Hospice Care Center.
A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Canyon View Vineyard Church.
Mr. Shirlen was a certified public accountant.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy “Dot”; three sons, Isaac of Northfield, Minn., Louis “Louie” Jr. of Palisade and Christopher-Michael Smith of Grand Junction; three daughters, Breaa and Leah, both of Marion, N.C., and Jennifer Smith of Grand Junction; his father, Cecil of Old Fort, N.C.; three brothers, Darrell, Charles and Vaughn, all of Old Fort; and two grandchildren.
