•  Edythe M. Avenell, 84, Austin, died Jan. 27, 2009, at her home.

No services will take place.

Survivors include her husband, Wallis “Wally”; one son, Dale Berry of Evans; and one grandchild.

•  Former Grand Junction resident Maxine Grace Rackaway, 90, Richmond, Ky., died Jan. 27, 2009, at Telford Terrace in Richmond, Ky.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Ill.

Services will take place at 1 p.m. Monday at Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Vernon.

Memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

•  Clara Jane Wharton, 96, Naturita, died Jan. 27, 2009, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction.

Services will take place at 1 p.m. Monday at Dove Creek First Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Robert VanSell of Naturita; one sister, Ruth Farris of Wilmington, Ohio; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
