Darrell E. Baker, 83, Eckert, died Dec. 27, 2011, at his home.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Eckert Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Vivian; two sons, Dan of Durango and Randy of Cedaredge; one daughter, Colleen Drury of Kinnear, Wyo.; one brother, Don Baker of St. Edward, Neb.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Raymond Den Beste, 93, Paonia, died Dec. 19, 2011.

Services will be at 7 p.m. tonight at the Paonia United Methodist Church and at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Mr. Den Beste was an educator.

Survivors include his wife Nina; two daughters, Ruella Kontour of Crawford and Karen McKee of Palisade; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Leonard Verlin Crowder Sr., 97, Grand Junction, died Jan. 10, 2012.

Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. Jan. 20 at Fruita Faith Bapist Church, with services to follow at 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Mr. Crowder was a roustabout.

Survivors include his wife Florence Eva; one son, Leonard Verlin Crowder Jr. of Grand Junction; one daughter, Jane Marie Cook of Lemoore, Calif.; two brothers, Joe Crowder of Mesa, Ariz., and Cliff Crowder of Arkansas; one sister, Leila Emery of Illinois; six grandchildren; and 16 grandchildren.

Edwina “Eddie” Eastman, 94, Paonia, died Jan. 3, 2012.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Hotchkiss.

Survivors include three sons, Ben Jr. of Denver; Gary of Fort Collins and Peter of Hotchkiss; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

John George Fountas, 59, Battlement Mesa, died Jan. 10, 2012.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Jan. 20 at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado.

Mr. Fountas was a construction laborer.

Survivors include his wife, Julia; one son, Bradley Clark of Georgia; one daughter, Shelley Schutz of Iowa; three brothers, Jim of California and Paul and Phillip, both of Iowa; four sisters, Mary Fountas of Nevada, Julie Pendagast of Iowa, Ann Polson of Illinois and Theresa Fountas of Louisiana; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Daniel “Dan” Mack, 56, Clifton, died Jan. 11, 2012, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado.

Mr. Mack was a flagman.

Survivors include his father, Lawrence A. Mack of Clifton; and one sister, Sandra J. White of Mack.

John “Pete” Peterson, 77, Grand Junction, died Jan. 10, 2012.

Services are being pending with Callahan-Edfast Mortuary.

Mr. Peterson was a supervisor in the oil industry.

Survivors include his wife, Dianne; three sons, Michael John Peterson of Loma, Mark D. Peterson and David Max Rose, both of Grand Junction; two daughters, Susan Rene Crim and Jolene Ferguson, both of Grand Junction; one brother, Clarence William Peterson of Freeport, Kan.; one sister, Carol Ann Cadez of Grand Junction; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Mark E. Smith, 53, Delta, died Jan. 11, 2012, at his home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the First Assembly of God Church in Delta. Private inurnment will be at a later date at Pea Green Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Rhonda; one son, Matthew M. of Grand Junction; one daughter, Nicole M. Smith of Denver; his parents, Conn Ed and Rose of Delta; two brothers, Kirk A. of Delta and John Conn of Grand Junction.

Lou Ann Townsend, 84, Delta, died Jan, 11, 2012, at Delta County Memorial Hospital.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Delta United Methodist Church. A private burial will be at the Delta City Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband, Don; two sons, John Fishering and Greg Fishering, both of Montrose; one daughter, Kathy Day of Grand Junction; one sister, Kay Starr of Edina, Minn.; and seven grandchildren.
