William Anton Bear, 86, Grand Junction, died Jan. 21, 2010, at his home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary with a rosary at 7 o’clock.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Mr. Bear was the president and general manager of Bear Coal Co.

Survivors include three sons, William Jr. of Paonia, Daniel of Rock Springs, Wyo., and Basil of Delta; four daughters, Barbara Conkle and Jeannean Springer, both of Grand Junction, Jeannette Halkowitz of Johnson City, Tenn., and Patricia Bear Drehle of Mose, Ariz., 20 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 330 White Ave., Grand Junction 81501.

Hazel Ruth Opdahl Brist, 91, Grand Junction, died Jan. 21, 2010, at Hospice Care Center.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary.

Mrs. Brist was a retired grade school teacher.

Survivors include three daughters, Jordis Kleven of Great Falls, Mont., Joleen Newlon of Grand Junction and Janet Preston of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; 10 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Lloyd G. Cruthers, 83, Grand Junction, died Jan. 20, 2010, at his home.

Services will be at a later date.

Mr. Cruthers was a laborer in manufacturing.

Survivors include his wife, Mary E.; four sons, Lloyd G. Cruthers and Don VanMatre, both of Grand Junction, Dave of Denver and Mark of Broomfield; one daughter, Shannon of Grand Junction; two brothers, Don of Longmont and Lawrence of Cedaredge; three sisters, Lavonne Boxwell of Grand Junction, Fran Tilton of South Bend, Ind., and Mary Udavich of Arizona; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Martha Garcia, 68, Montrose, died Jan. 17, 2010, at her home.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. today at Valley Lawn Funeral Home in Montrose. Services will follow at 11 o’clock.

Survivors include one daughter, Helen Ramirez of Phoenix, Ariz.; three sons, Cliff Jones of Fruita, Charles Frost of Salt Lake City and John Frost of Olathe; three brothers, Don and Leon, both of Fruita, and Steven of Grand Junction; three sisters, Mary Medina of Fruita and Clara Sandoval and Debbie Anderton, both of Delta; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Jacquoline “Jacquie” Lind, 80, Grand Junction, died Jan. 22, 2010, at Hospice Care Center.

Services are planned later in San Felipe, Mexico.

Survivors include her husband, Clancy; one son, John Gregory of Crawford; four daughters, Kathleen Callahan of Aspen, Mary Lou Gregory-Lind of Crawford, Cynthia Wilson of Grand Junction and Annette Zaccor-Lilly of South Lake Tahoe, Calif.; and 11 grandchildren.

M. Annette McCarty, 72, Delta, died Jan. 19, 2010, at Willowtree of Delta.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Delta.

Survivors include her husband, James; one son, D.J. of Delta; two daughters, Vonnie Collier and Loretta Ray, both of Aubrey, Texas; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Maria Guadalupe Payan, 73, Grand Junction, died Jan. 22, 2010, at St. Mary’s Hospital.

Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Junction Community Church.

Mrs. Payan was a homemaker.

Survivors include five sons, Alex, Eloy and Nohel, all of Grand Junction, Ermilio of Salt Lake City and Francisco of Dallas; five daughters, Nishi Aragon of Denver, Irma Gutierrez of Charlstown, Ind., Elsie Holguin of Mesa, Ariz., and Norma Ibarra and Linda Payan, both of Chandler, Ariz.; one brother, Cipriano Portillo of Chihuahua, Mexico; 21 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
