Delayed fireworks reset Sept. 2

Fireworks are back in Grand Junction.

The annual show postponed July 4 because of extreme fire danger has been rescheduled for Sept. 2 at Suplizio Field.

The show will begin at 9 p.m. or after the conclusion of the Grand Junction Rockies game, which begins at 6:05 p.m.

Fans interested in purchasing Rockies tickets, which is the only way to get inside the stadium, can call 255-ROCK (7625).

Although Grand Junction had a special permit to shoot off fireworks July 4, the City Council postponed the show because Mesa County was in a Stage 2 fire ban.

At the same time, the Pine Ridge Fire was burning in the De Beque area, city recreation supervisor Emily Wright said.

Utah-based Fireworks West International told officials at that time that it would work with the city to reschedule the show when conditions improved.
