Delta adopts Outdoor Heritage Day

A good idea has begun to spread.

Outdoor Heritage Day, the brainchild of Division of Wildlife District Manager Frank McGee of Palisade, has become so popular it’s been adopted by Delta.

Delta will host its own free Outdoor Heritage Day on Saturday at Confluence Park, and welcome, welcome, we say.

No one, except perhaps McGee, could have predicted how successful the Grand Junction event would become at getting parents and kids together, learning outdoor skills that will last a lifetime.

Several other towns are looking at hosting their own event, and Delta is the first to do so.

It’s too good not to share.

WHAT: Delta’s first Outdoor Heritage Day.

WHERE: Confluence Park in Delta (behind the west side City Market).

WHEN: 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday.

WHO: It’s all free, hosted by Delta’s Park and Recreation Department along with many generous sponsors.

HOW: Preregister for the youth fishing derby set for 9–11 a.m. Information at 874-0923.
