Documentary on McInnis Canyons to be shown at Museum of the West on July 19

The 35-minute documentary “Stories from the Land: McInnis Canyons National Conservation Area” was recently awarded the Award of Merit for Leadership in History from the American Association of State and Local History, AASLH.

The Museum of Western Colorado and Colorado Canyons Association helped make the documentary.

To celebrate the award, a free movie screening will be held at 7 p.m., Tuesday, July 19, at the Museum of the West, 462 Ute Ave.

In addition to a screening of the film, a reception with light refreshments also will be held where people can tour museum exhibits and meet individuals involved in the making of the documentary.

Grand Junction filmmaker Mara Ferris of Gen9 Productions wrote, directed and produced the documentary.
