Drug task force arrests 2 men after search
A visit by Western Colorado Drug Task Force members and the execution of a subsequent search warrant at 1002 Santa Clara Ave., No. 4, led to two arrests for suspected heroin possession.
Jesse Voorhees, 22, 1002 Santa Clara Ave., No. 4, and Shain Michael Carnahan, 23, 2915 Orchard Ave., Unit G-21, were arrested Tuesday at Voorhees’ residence and booked into Mesa County Jail on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia and heroin.
Voorhees was also arrested on suspicion of unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and being a special offender.
Tiffany Drake, 24, and Danielle Adams, 20, were each issued summonses at the residence on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Voorhees answered the door when Western Colorado Drug Task Force members conducted “a knock and talk” at his residence. According to an arrest affidavit, Voorhees allowed task force officers into his living room, where at least one officer saw a baggie containing a brown substance the officer believed to be heroin, plus two pieces of tinfoil and a piece of a red straw on a coffee table. The officer believed the tinfoil and straw were paraphernalia used for smoking heroin, according to the affidavit.
An officer searched Carnahan, who was in the living room, and found a used syringe and a folded piece of tinfoil that contained a brown substance that tested presumptive positive for heroin, according to the affidavit.
One of the Drug Task Force officers obtained a search warrant based on what was found in the home, and officers were able to test the brown substance on the coffee table, which tested presumptive positive for heroin, according to the affidavit. Blue pills found in a tin on the coffee table tested presumptive positive for Ecstasy.
The Santa Clara Avenue residence is across the street from the north side of New Emerson School.
