Edwards man befriended, then assaulted girl, cops say
An Edwards man has been arrested on suspicion he sexually assaulted a girl after he cultivated an online relationship with her, according to the Eagle County Sheriff’s Department.
Adolfo Guardado, 24, was arrested last week on allegations he assaulted a 12-year-old girl in a remote cabin on U.S. Forest Service land near Wolcott on May 18. The Sheriff’s Department said the girl had asked Guardado for a ride to school that day.
Guardado drove the girl back to school after the alleged assault in the cabin.
Guardado had been chatting online with the girl and exchanged phone calls with her, leading up to their meeting, authorities said.
Eagle County deputies were alerted May 24.
Guardado is charged with sexual assault on a child, second-degree kidnapping and enticement of a child. He is being held at the Eagle County Jail on $15,000 bond.
Guardado has a hold from federal immigration authorities, which prevents him from posting bond, as a suspected illegal immigrant.
