Empty Bowls annual lunch helps feed others throughout the year

A heaping helping of kindness and generosity goes a long way.

Fill your bowl and help feed the hungry at the 15th annual Empty Bowls lunch from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, at Catholic Outreach’s Soup Kitchen, 245 S. First St. Tickets are $25 and include soup, dessert and a handmade pottery bowl of one’s choice.

On any given weekday, 250–300 individuals, families and children go to the Soup Kitchen for the noon meal. Empty Bowls raises funds to support the Soup Kitchen and Catholic Outreach, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping the needy in the Grand Valley.

The pottery bowls were handmade by local artists for the event, which is hosted by Friends of the Grand Valley Catholic Outreach, a partnership of 28 churches in the Grand Valley.

Music will be performed during the lunch.

Call Sister Karen Bland at 241-3658 for information.
