Encana wants to drill 93 wells near De Beque

The Bureau of Land Management is seeking public comment on a proposal to drill 93 wells beginning this fall near De Beque.

Encana Oil and Gas (USA) Inc. has proposed to drill the wells from 24 new well pads and one existing pad in an area of about 12,067 acres in the Little Alkali Creek, Alkali Creek, Smith Gulch, Horsethief Creek and Little Horsethief Creek watersheds.

The project requires improvement or construction of 8.8 miles of roads and installation of 15.5 miles of buried pipe.

The environmental assessment and decision record are expected to be completed later this year.
Comments can be made through Sept. 30. Written comments may be submitted to the BLM Grand Junction Field Office, 
Attn: OMDP, 2815 H Road, Grand Junction 81506.
