Encore Shoppe closes, then reopens in new location
The Encore Shoppe is leaving the quiet corner of Cottonwood Mall and moving to the bustling and busy intersection of 5th Street and Grand Avenue this week.
The store at 2403 U.S. Highway 6&50 was nearly empty Monday morning. The doors will officially close as of Tuesday.
Owner Mandy Barnes and her staff will spend the next four days working feverishly to reassemble the thousands of new and gently-used items at the new location of 461 Grand Ave., formerly the Unfinished Furniture store. The store will open at 9:30 a.m. Friday morning.
“We just weren’t getting the foot traffic there and we can get better exposure and be closer to downtown here,” Barnes said, as she unpacked boxes of women’s clothing on the first floor of the new building.
The new location offers 10,000 square feet of retail space, similar to the old location, but is divided into an upstairs and downstairs level. The women’s clothing will be on the top floor, while the men’s, children’s, housewares and home decor will be on the bottom floor.
Barnes said the store will continue to accept consignments throughout the week, despite not being open for retail business. The store sells clothing and other merchandise 40 percent to 60 percent less than retail value, Barnes added.
There will also be new hours starting Friday, from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. For information, call 242-3662.
