Ex-congressman to speak on Colorado gas industry

Gubernatorial candidate and former congressman Scott McInnis is scheduled to address a meeting of the National Association of Royalty Owners in Parachute on Saturday.

State Rep. Kathleen Curry, D-Gunnison, also will speak at the Western Colorado Royalty Owners Seminar, to be held from 1 to 4 p.m. at 800 Cardinal Way. All mineral royalty owners are encouraged to attend.

McInnis, a Grand Junction Republican, formerly represented western Colorado in Congress and has filed as a candidate for the 2010 race for governor. He will speak at 1:30 p.m. on his vision for oil and gas development in the state.

Curry is the chairwoman of the House Agriculture, Livestock and Natural Resources Committee and has been involved in legislation regarding oil and gas development. She is scheduled to speak at 1 p.m. on “Fixing What’s Broken.”

From 2:30 to 4 p.m., participants will discuss issues such as gas volume reporting, proper payment by companies, and an Obama administration proposal to eliminate a tax deduction for royalty owners.
