Failing pipe to be fixed on road to pistol range
Shooting enthusiasts need to take a break on using pistol range at the north end of 27 1/4 Road for a couple weeks.
Mesa County Road and Bridge Department crews plan to fix a failing metal pipe under the roadway that is en route to the range.
The rifle shooting range on 27 1/4 Road- further south along the roadway- remains open to the public during construction.
The Bureau of Land Management Book Cliffs Shooting Range is located north of H Road.
Mesa County crews will replace the 72-inch metal, corrugated metal pipe under the roadway within the next two weeks.
The new pipe will be reinforced with concrete, Mesa County officials said in a press release.
