Father arrested in daughter’s death, attributed to Oxycodone

Manuel Angel Rivera

A Clifton man has been arrested in connection with the death of his 18-month-old daughter earlier this month, the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department announced this afternoon.

Manuel Angel Rivera, 30, 3233 White Ave., Unit 4, was booked into the Mesa County Jail on suspicion of felony counts of child abuse resulting in death and possession of a controlled substance and a misdemeanor count of possession of a controlled substance. He is being held without bond pending his first court appearance, which is expected to be tomorrow.

The Mesa County Coroner’s Office determined Rivera’s daughter, Analeisa, died as a result of Oxycodone intoxication. Oxycodone is a painkiller.

Sheriff’s deputies were called to the Rivera home on the morning of March 6. Rivera’s arrest affidavit has been sealed.
