Feds waive entry fee for monument this weekend

The National Park Service will waive fees to Colorado National Monument Saturday and Sunday.

Secretary of Interior Ken Salazar announced that the waived fees will be offered as a way to encourage Americans seeking affordable vacations to visit their national parks and national refuges. A second fee-free weekend is set for Aug. 14-15.

On Sunday, the “Canyon Rim Ramble” guided hike is from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Meet at the Visitor Center for the one-mile hike. Take water and walking shoes.
