Fire destroys Orchard Mesa home
An Orchard Mesa home is considered a “complete loss” after a fire late Friday night, according to the Grand Junction Fire Department.
Firefighters responded to a structure fire shortly before 11:30 p.m. Friday at 2946 Ronda Lee Road. When firefighters arrived, they found the fire had spread throughout the home.
The blaze was contained within 12 minutes of the first fire unit’s arrival at the scene. In all, seven units and 21 Grand Junction Fire Department personnel responded to the fire, according to Fire Department spokesman Mike Page.
Neighbors informed firefighters that they did not believe anyone was in the home at the time of the fire, and a quick search of the property confirmed that information.
Crews searched the home again after the fire was put out and did not find evidence of any occupants.
Several explosions at the scene were likely caused by propane tanks in the home’s garage, according to Page. The fire did not injure anyone. Its cause is under investigation.
