Firefighters gain ground on northern Colo. blaze

FORT COLLINS — Authorities say firefighters have made significant progress in containing a 5-square-mile wildfire in northern Colorado.

The fire in the Larimer County foothills was listed as 45 percent contained today. Authorities say crews got help from cooler weather and a mix of snow and rain the day before.

The Loveland Reporter-Herald reported that they hope to have the fire 100 percent contained by Friday.

The fire started Saturday and quickly grew because of gusty winds.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
