Fla. man killed in ATV crash

A 55-year-old Florida man who was hunting near Colbran on Sunday with two others died after he was ejected from the all-terrain vehicle he was riding on, according to the Mesa County Coroner’s Office. Francis “Peter” Bierstaker of Deerfield, Fla., died of blunt force injuries and his manner of death is considered an accident, the Coroner’s Office said.

Bierstaker and the driver of the ATV rolled down a 30-foot embankment after the trailer the vehicle was hauling jackknifed. The driver was not injured. A third person was riding on the trailer that was hauling hunting gear. The party was returning from hunting back to a cabin near Vega Lake Dam when the accident occurred Sunday.
