Flu shots sessions start on Tuesday
Influenza vaccinations through the Mesa County Health Department will be available starting Tuesday, ahead of the 2011–12 flu season.
Flu shots cost $20. The nasal mist version vaccine is $25.
People with insurance should bring their information to their appointments or pay by cash, credit card or check. The Health Department can bill insurance providers, including Rocky Mountain Health Plans, Medicaid, Medicare Part B, Railroad Medicare, Humana and CNIC.
Vaccinations are recommended for anyone 65 or older; young children; pregnant women; people with chronic health conditions such as diabetes, asthma and heart or lung disease; and anyone who works or lives with the above-mentioned people.
Flu vaccinations will take place on select days from Sept. 13 through Oct. 22.
Appointment-only flu vaccination clinics will take place between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. this Tuesday, Sept. 27 and Oct. 11 at the Health Department’s 510 29 1/2 Road location in Grand Junction. Call 244-8400 or visit health.mesacounty.us.
Walk-in clinics will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Health Department’s Grand Junction location; between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Wednesday and Oct. 26 at the Health Department’s Fruita office, 215 N. Plum St.; and from 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 6 at Undivided High School, 730 Minter Ave., De Beque.
People can also walk in for a flu vaccination between 9 a.m. and noon Oct. 17 at Plateau Valley Middle School, 56600 Colorado Highway 330 in Collbran, and between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Oct. 18 at Gateway Community Center, 42700 Colorado Highway 141 in Gateway.
A drive-through clinic will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 15 at Grand Junction Fire Department Station 3, and vaccinations will be offered during two events: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 21 at the Senior Fair at Two Rivers Convention Center; and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 22 during the Family Health Fiesta at Lincoln Park Barn.
Vaccinations will also be available at Two Rivers Convention Center during The Daily Sentinel Senior Fair on Friday, October 21 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
