Free homeownership sessions Saturday

The Grand Junction Area Realtor Association will hold its first Keys to Homeownership Festival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Western Colorado Botanical Gardens, 641 Struthers Ave.

Half-hour sessions will address information on appraisals, home inspections, loans, moving from renting to owning a home, improving a credit score, foreclosures, buying a new home versus buying a home that is already built, using a Realtor to sell or buy a home, and using a reverse mortgage to buy a home.

Speakers will include Realtors, lenders, home builders and officials from title companies, nonprofit housing organizations and government agencies. Sessions will aim to help current and future homeowners.

The event is free and will include educational sessions as well as a craft and activity area for kids and performances by local entertainers Spare Parts Harmony Barbershop Quartet, Hugh Plumleigh, Lisa Lingo, David Faricy, Theresa DeRush, Ric Gaines and the Grand Junction High School Jazz Band.
