Fruita DMV remains closed

Plans to reopen the Fruita branch of the motor vehicle division of the Mesa County Clerk and Recorder’s Office today have been postponed due to hardware failure.

CenturyLink technicians from Denver are working to replace a router that is needed for office staff to connect to the Department of Revenue, according to a news release from the Mesa County Clerk and Recorder’s Office. The Fruita office’s site has been down since last Monday and is expected to be restored sometime this week, according to the county.

Call 244-1664 before visiting the Fruita office this week to see if it is open.

Title and registration customers can visit Mesa County Central Services at 200 S. Spruce St. or the Clifton office in the Peachtree Shopping Center, 3225 Interstate 70 Business Loop, until the Fruita office reopens. Other options are to renew plates online at colorado.gov/renewplates or mail renewal and proof of insurance paperwork to any of the local motor vehicle offices.
