Fruita library plans junior rocket launch

Children fascinated with shooting things into the air have a creative outlet in the upcoming Junior Rocket Launch at Mesa County Libraries Fruita Branch.

To participate in the launch, children ages kindergarten through sixth grade must register and take part in the free, 4 p.m., Friday, March 7 rocket construction event.

Register at mesacountylibraries.org or by calling 858-7703.

Space is limited to 30 children. Supplies will be furnished.

Members of the Mathematics Engineering Science Achievement (MESA) Club at Fruita 8/9 School and other community partners will help children design and build rockets out of small soda bottles.

The launch is 4 p.m., Thursday, March 20 at the library, 324 N. Coulson St. It’s open to the public.

Other activities such as a scavenger hunt will be held in conjunction with the March 20 launch.
