Fruitvale stabbing investigated

The Mesa County Sheriff’s Department said there were no arrests but an investigation was active in connection with the reported stabbing of a man Saturday morning at a Fruitvale apartment complex.

Sheriff’s spokeswoman Mary Gonzales said a man’s injuries didn’t appear life threatening after he was stabbed at the Racquet Club Apartments, 2915 Orchard Ave., which was reported to 911 dispatchers around 9:40 a.m. The incident was initially believed to be a domestic dispute, Gonzales said.

The man was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, she said. No other information was released.

Deputies responded to the apartment complex after a man was reportedly bleeding heavily after being stabbed by his girlfriend, who had claimed he had punched her first, according to radio reports.

Mesa County protective services were called to the scene.

The man’s condition wasn’t confirmed Saturday.
