Fruitvale man pleads not guilty to shooting five people at party
A Fruitvale man pleaded not guilty on Tuesday to charges of shooting five people at a party in December.
Joshua Gregory Anton, 20, heads to trial in November on 18 felony charges, including six counts of first-degree assault.
Anton’s attorney, Bill Richardson, said in court Tuesday that both sides were unable to come to terms of an acceptable plea agreement for his client.
Anton is accused of shooting into an apartment 2984 Krista St., next door to where he lived and wounding five people at an early morning birthday party there.
All five wounded men were taken to St. Mary’s Hospital and later released after the Dec. 13 incident. Two of the men sustained serious injuries.
In addition to the first-degree assault charges, Anton has been charged with a sentence-enhancing charge for each of those charges, two counts of second-degree assault, each with sentence-enhancing charges, prohibited use of a weapon and carrying a concealed weapon.
Anton is scheduled for trial starting Nov. 17.
