Funding woes ax Ouray solar project

A two-megawatt solar array set for construction near the intersection of U.S. Highway 550 and Ouray County Road 10 has been terminated by the builder, Sun Edison.

The Ouray County Land Use Department said in a news release that a representative with Sun Edison notified the county the proposed solar-farm project was being dropped because of “funding issues.”

Sun Edison requested a special-use permit from Ouray County for the project on a proposed 20-acre site leased to Sun Edison by the Angel Ridge Ranch LLC.

The solar farm facility was scheduled to be operational by the spring.
