Gas bills to plunge from 2008
Xcel Energy announced Friday that residential customers can expect their natural gas bills to be at least $18 lower this March than they were in March 2008.
Xcel is proposing to the Colorado Public Utilities Commission that the commodity price for natural gas be lowered to $0.4676 per therm in March, down 8 percent from this month’s rate.
Natural gas bills for March are projected to be 19 to 20 percent lower than this month and 20 to 21 percent lower than last March, Xcel said.
Xcel anticipates typical residential natural gas bills will decrease on average to $69.67 next month, compared to $88.28 last month.
Typical small-business customers will pay an average of $334.54 for natural gas next month, or $84.90 less than they paid last March.
