GJ woman arrested
 in stabbing of boyfriend

Barbara Blanton

A 37-year-old woman was arrested Tuesday night after authorities said she stabbed her boyfriend multiple times at a Grand Junction apartment complex.

Barbara Blanton of Grand Junction was booked at the Mesa County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, police spokeswoman Kate Porras said.

Blanton’s boyfriend suffered non-threatening injuries around 5 p.m. at Innsbruck Apartments, 1158 Bookcliff Ave., Porras said.

Christina Stoneking, a resident of the complex, said the wounded man was heard outside arguing with a woman nearly a full hour before Stoneking said she walked out on her balcony and heard the man crying out for help.

She described seeing around four to five stab wounds on the man’s back and arms, and him lying in a pool of blood outside an apartment unit.

The man said his wife had stabbed him as he was climbing out a window, Stoneking said.

Stoneking said she briefly spoke with the woman, who explained her husband had come home Tuesday night with the stab wounds. Blood pooled with rain water on the curb near where Stoneking described seeing the victim on the ground.

Police took the woman, and two young children who live at the apartment unit, out a back door and away from the scene, Stoneking said.
