GJ woman motorcyclist, 53, dies in crash near Delta

A Grand Junction woman died late Wednesday night after crashing her motorcycle west of Delta, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

Sheryl J. Williams, 53, was driving her 2007 Harley-Davidson east along a left-hand curve and down a hill on U.S. Highway 50 when it collided with a guardrail on the right side of the road nine miles west of Delta. She was thrown from the motorcycle.

Williams was taken to Delta County Memorial Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead, Colorado State Patrol trooper Gilbert Mares said.

Williams was wearing eye protection and a helmet, and speed was not considered a factor in the crash, the State Patrol said.
