Coroner identifies victim in father-son slaying
A father shot and killed his adult son during an altercation early this morning at a Grand Junction home, according to the Grand Junction Police Department.
Garth Byron Meier, 48, of Grand Junction, died of a single gunshot to the chest, according to the Mesa County Coroner’s Office. The death was ruled a homicide.
Someone at 688 29 1/2 Road called 911 around 12:45 a.m. saying a man had been shot, police said in a news release. Investigation showed three people were inside the home when the altercation started between a father and son.
The suspected shooter and the third person inside the home are being questioned, although nobody has been arrested, police said in the release.
Police are not looking for any suspects.
