GJ’s warmth gives way to record low of 15 degrees

Grand Junction shattered a nearly five-decade-old record Thursday morning, registering a low of 15 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

The agency’s local station at the Grand Junction Regional Airport recorded a low of 15 degrees at 6:36 a.m., undercutting the previous record low of 19 degrees, set Nov. 6, 1959.

The National Weather Service has forecast that Grand Junction will experience cool overnight temperatures through the weekend, however, those lows will be in the 20s and 30s.

Thursday’s record low comes less than a week after Grand Junction set two record highs, 72 degrees on Saturday and 76 degrees on Sunday.
