Grand Junction Steel changes name to Hirschfeld Industries
Grand Junction Steel announced this week its name has been changed to Hirschfeld Industries.
Founded in 1947, Grand Junction Steel was purchased by Hirschfeld Holdings in 2007.
Hirschfeld Holdings has changed its corporate name to Hirschfeld Industries to reinforce its brand identity across the company that employs 900 people in five states.
The company has been a leader in Colorado in steel fabrication and employs 95 people locally. Business has slowed during the economic downturn, but the Grand Junction branch is retaining its full staff, General Manager Doug Ames said Thursday.
Ames said he is not concerned that the name change could damage business recognition in the community.
“We have a limited customer base. They all know we were bought by Hirschfeld,” he said.
