Groundbreaking for strip club in 10 days

Nineteen months after meeting with Grand Junction city planners to discuss the possibility, Kevin Eardley plans to break ground next week on Grand Junction’s first strip club in years.

Eardley, who owns Atlas Electric in Grand Junction, tentatively has Sept. 27 as the day he’ll break ground on the club at 2258 Colex Drive.

“It will probably take eight months” to finish construction, Eardley said.

The two-story building will have a stage for dancers, seating area and bar on the first floor, and offices on the second floor. Eardley plans to keep the club open from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. seven days a week.

The club’s name will be Fantasy. The last strip club in Grand Junction, Cheers, closed in 2005.

Eardley’s proposal bounced between the city’s planning commission and City Council from August 2008 to February 2009 before he received approval for a conditional use permit. The club received approval for a liquor license in May.
