The Grand Junction Police Department said a man suspected in the robbery of North Avenue’s Burger King on Tuesday was arrested overnight.

Deone Tyrone Patterson, 22, was booked into the Mesa County Jail on suspicion of aggravated robbery, first-degree kidnapping, felony menacing and theft.

Patterson was contacted by officers near 29 3/8 Road and Bunting Avenue wearing clothing that matched a description offered by employees at Burger King, 1730 North Ave. He also had a bag with denominations of cash similar to what was stolen, police said in a release.

Witnesses said a masked man armed with a handgun forced four employees into a storage freezer while robbing the store around 8 p.m. There were no injuries and no customers were inside the Burger King at the time. Witnesses described the black, male suspect as wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, stonewashed jeans, tan boots and a red mask covering most of his face. He also had a red and black gym bag.
