Handgun linked to killing found in suspect’s car

A loaded handgun possibly associated with a woman’s killing was found in a vehicle driven by an Idaho man following his arrest last month in Mesa County, according to a published report.

A .357-caliber revolver, which was wrapped in bloody clothing, had five live casings in its cylinder and one spent casing positioned in front of the weapon’s hammer, according to court testimony Monday as reported by the Times-News newspaper in Twin Falls, Idaho.

The discovery was made in the days following the arrest of Thomas Trevino Jr., 30, after he was spotted walking July 7 in the area of 23 and K roads in Mesa County. A detective from Twin Falls witnessed the gun’s recovery when Mesa County authorities executed a search warrant on Trevino’s vehicle, according to the Times-News report.
