Immunization walk-in hours extended
Montrose County Health & Human Services will extend the hours of its immunization program on Wednesdays and Thursdays, when vaccinations are available to walk-in patients, ahead of the start of the school year.
Colorado students are required to get certain immunizations before starting school unless they are exempt for medical, religious or personal reasons. Walk-in immunizations will be available to all patients from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday through Thursday beginning this Wednesday and ending Sept. 27 at Montrose County Health & Human Services, 1845 S. Townsend Ave. Parents need to bring a child’s current immunization record, insurance card and coverage information to get immunized.
To schedule an appointment between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on a Monday, Tuesday or Friday or to learn more information about the clinic and immunization requirements for school, call 255-5000.
Makeover deadline extended
The deadline to apply for the Body & Soul Makeover has been extended to Aug. 3.
The makeover is a partnership of numerous local health and wellness agencies and involves free skin treatments, counseling, fitness training, dental work, and more.
Nomination forms can be dropped off and picked up at Le MedSpa, 2530 N. Eighth St., Wellington Building 4, Suite 205.
Alzheimer’s seminar next month
Dr. Shalona McFarland will host a seminar about Alzheimer’s disease from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 21 at Orchard Worship Center, 2430 Orchard Ave.
The seminar will focus on how to manage Alzheimer’s through nutrition, what causes Alzheimer’s and an update on Alzheimer’s research.

CNA classes begin Sept. 10
Certified Nurse Aide classes will begin Sept. 10 at the Western Colorado Area Health Education Center, 744 Horizon Court, Suite 220.
Each class session lasts six and a half weeks. The session beginning Sept. 10 lasts through Oct. 23. Classes are from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Tuition is $945, although clients of the Mesa County Workforce Center may qualify for tuition reimbursement.
