Help sought in kidnap case

Glenwood Springs police are seeking a man who kidnapped a juvenile female who later was able to escape.

Police said the victim was walking downtown around 5:30 p.m. Friday when she passed a man on the sidewalk and he grabbed her and forced her into his truck. After driving around for a couple of hours, he stopped at a secluded location in town and the girl resisted him and escaped.

The suspect is a white male with pale skin, about 25, with green eyes, no facial hair or sideburns and medium-length brown hair. He had a possible East Coast accent.

He has a large spiral tattoo on the back of his neck and was wearing a small silver hoop earring in his left earlobe. He was wearing a Cincinnati Reds baseball cap, dark blue jeans and a black hoodie. He was driving a white, extended-cab, early-2000s, full-size truck with rust near the front grille and a white camper shell. The interior has black leather seats and black carpet and smelled of cigarettes.

Police ask that anyone with information call them at 970-384-6500, Garfield County Crime Stoppers at 970-945-0101, or submit a tip through: http://www.glenwoodpolice.com.
