Hickenlooper names Montrose DA replacement
Gov. John Hickenlooper today named Montrose attorney Dan W. Hotsenpiller as district attorney for the 7th Judicial District, the same man Chief District Judge Steven Patrick tapped for the job last year.
Patrick had named Hotsenpiller to act as interim DA after charges were filed against former district attorney Myrl Serra on suspicion of improper sexual conduct with women in his office and malfeasance in office.
Because Patrick later barred Serra from having contact with anyone in the DA’s office, he had to name an interim DA. But after Serra resigned his position earlier this month, state law required the governor to appoint a replacement.
Hotsenpiller is currently an attorney with Delman & Hotsenpiller in Montrose, a position he has held since 2005. Prior to that, Hotsenpiller worked in the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Grand Junction.
