Highline opens for boaters
Highline Lake State Park will open to boaters at 8 a.m. today, according to Colorado Parks and Wildlife.
Highline was temporarily closed while dredging work was performed at the lake to remove silt deposits with the goal of improving water quality. Great Outdoors Colorado and Colorado Lottery funding provided more than enough money to complete the $807,000 project.
The work restored a deep channel out to the lake from the East Bay, allowing an east boat ramp that had been closed for three years due to silt buildup to reopen eventually, but not yet. The west boat ramp is open. Boat inspections will take place from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. today at the west boat ramp.
The dredging work also uncovered a dam outlet structure, which allowed divers to perform safety testing and inspections.
A day pass to the park is $7 per vehicle. Day use ends at 10 p.m.
