Highway 65 to Grand Mesa reopens

The road through Plateau Canyon that guides visitors to the top of Grand Mesa is back open after being closed because of massive rockslide last week.

A section of Colorado Highway 65 about three miles south of Interstate 70 was cleared of more than 600 tons of rock debris and was temporarily patched to allow traffic through in both directions. The road was reopened Monday evening.

Colorado Department of Transportation officials said that a project to permanently repair the roadway will begin later this spring,
