Hit-and-run victim fighting for life
The victim of a Saturday morning hit-and-run in Clifton was fighting life-threatening injuries Sunday as investigators continued to search for two people believed to have information about the incident, according to a Mesa County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman.
Investigators are looking for David Arellano Jr. and Cheyenne Dean to interview about the suspected vehicular assault, which was reported at 4:16 a.m. Saturday at Candlewood Trailer Park, 422 32 Road, according to Deputy Amanda Erkman.
The department has not named Arellano and Dean as suspects in the wreck.
Erkman said Sunday evening that investigators have decided not to release identifying information about the victim of the incident yet. Erkman confirmed the victim was an adult, but said she’s not sure exactly when more information will be available.
“I think that’s just going to depend on the condition of the victim,” she said. “Obviously, if things worsen we will make sure that we’re going to be contacting next of kin next.”
Erkman said more information could also be released if the victim improves, or possibly after investigators have spoken to Arellano and Dean.
The department announced Saturday night that investigators had located a silver Jeep Grand Cherokee they believe was involved in the hit-and-run.
