Hypothermia was cause of death for GJ woman
A Grand Junction woman who was found dead in a vehicle on the Uncompahgre Plateau last week died of hypothermia and had drugs in her system, the Montrose County Coroner’s Office said Monday.
Jodie Anne Valerio, 47, of Grand Junction, was identified Thursday after she was found dead in a vehicle on the Uncompahgre Plateau in the area of Sawmill Mesa on Tuesday. She had been reported missing to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office.
The Montrose County Coroner’s Office said she died from exposure to the cold and listed her death as an accident. Toxicology reports indicated she had methamphetamine and Ecstasy in her system.
Montrose Coroner Thomas Canfield said there was no evidence of foul play.
