UPDATE: I-70 re-opens following motorcycle crash

Westbound lanes of Interstate 70 near milemarker nine, temporarily closed shortly before 3 p.m. today due to a fatal motorcycle crash, have re-opened.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, two men were involved in a motorcycle crash at 2:38 this afternoon on the interstate, between Mack and Loma. The passenger on the tricycle-style motorcycle died at the scene, according to the state patrol. The driver was flown to St. Mary’s via Care Flight.

The westbound side of the interstate closed at the crash site for approximately 45 minutes while Care Flight landed in westbound lanes of I-70 near the crash. One lane remained closed temporarily but both lanes were open as of 5:30 p.m.
