Incubator to have open marketplace
By EMILY ANDERSON
The Grand Junction Business Incubator will celebrate business and entrepreneurship with a summer open marketplace and treasure hunt from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. today in the incubator’s parking lot at 2591 B 3/4 Road.
The free event will feature booths with information about 30 businesses that operate in the Grand Valley and a treasure hunt featuring 16 members of the Orchard Mesa Business Impact Group.
To participate in the treasure hunt, arrive at the incubator any time after 2 p.m. and pick up a clue that will lead to one of the businesses. Each business will offer a clue leading to the next building. At the final business, participants can fill out a ticket that will be entered in a drawing for prizes, including a canoe and a grill. The drawing will take place at 6 p.m.
Incubator Program Manager Annalisa Pearson said the event is a bigger version of the holiday open house the center offers each December.
“The economy is really tough, and people are mainly hearing about and mainly reading about the bad stuff. We just wanted to celebrate business and entrepreneurship and have fun,” Pearson said.
Entertainment at the event will include face painting, a bump-n-jump, balloon tying and live music by Pineapple Crackers from 4 to 8 p.m. Kannah Creek will provide beer, and food vendors, wine, water and soft drinks will be on hand. Misters and a kiddie pool will keep patrons cool.
