Investigation continues after man hit by vehicle

An incident late Tuesday reportedly involving a woman who drove her car over a man near Fruita remains under investigation, the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department said Wednesday.

Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Heather Benjamin said a man remained at St. Mary’s Hospital on Wednesday with non-life-threatening injuries.

As of late Wednesday afternoon, no arrests had been made.

According to 911 dispatch traffic, a man suffered a severe leg injury after he was run over by a car driven by his girlfriend on 19 Road around 9:45 p.m., about a quarter mile east of the U.S. Highway 6&50 intersection.

Police were told the vehicle was traveling approximately 40 mph at the time of the collision.
