Jackpot! Another player wins big
GJ lotto ticket worth $3.3M
A fourth big Grand Junction winner in the Colorado Lottery marks an unheard-of streak, at least in the collective memories of the Colorado Lottery staff.
“G.J. is having the wildest lucky streak we’ve ever seen!” the Colorado Lottery tweeted on Thursday, after officials learned that a Lotto jackpot had gone to a buyer in Grand Junction.
The winning ticket was for a $3.3 million Lotto jackpot purchased at the Orchard Mesa City Market, 2770 U.S. Highway 50 and the winner has 180 days to produce the winning ticket.
The jackpot follows on the heels of Judy Finchum capturing $133.2 million with her Powerball selection in the Saturday drawing.
Also this week, Colorado Lottery tickets worth $100,000 and $50,000 were sold in Grand Junction.
Lottery staffers learned Wednesday night of the winner, but knew only the winning amount and where the ticket was sold, Lottery spokeswoman Kelly Tabor said.
“We all texted one another saying, ‘You have got to be kidding me,’” Tabor said.
The streak shines a light on the fact that Grand Junction is home to active Colorado Lottery players.
“We have some really loyal players out there,” Tabor said, noting that the winners she has met planned to remain in their hometowns.
“They’re not going to buy a house in San Diego,” Tabor said. “That’s not their style.”
Finchum’s winning ticket is the largest-ever for the Colorado Lottery, eclipsing by $43 million the previous record, a $90 million winner to a Rifle man.
