Jensen denied lower bond

Mesa County District Judge Valerie Robison denied a defense request Thursday to lower bond in the case of accused Palisade mother Heather Jensen.

Jensen, 24, has already left Colorado once without needed permission of the court and in violation of the terms of a deferred judgment, Robison said in denying Jensen’s request.

Jensen is being held at the Mesa County Jail on $150,000 bond.

She is scheduled for a two-hour preliminary hearing May 1.

She is charged with four felonies and one misdemeanor charge, including two counts of child abuse resulting in death, two counts of criminally negligent homicide and one count of false reporting to authorities, in connection with the deaths of her sons, William, 2, and Tyler, 4.

The boys were left alone inside their mother’s running Toyota 4Runner on Grand Mesa on Nov. 17, 2012.
