Jo-Ann Fabrics to close Mesa Mall location
Jo-Ann Fabrics & Crafts has until Aug. 14 to move out of Mesa Mall.
The Ohio-based fabric store chain is closing its sole location in Grand Junction, Jo-Ann Fabrics public relations manager Lorraine Schuchart confirmed Monday. The company has no immediate plans to open a new store in the area, Schuchart said, adding the company had no further information about the closure at this time.
The national chain has 14 locations in Colorado, all on the Front Range except for the Grand Junction store. When the local store closes, the next closest store to Grand Junction will be 233 miles away in Spanish Fork, Utah.
Jo-Ann Fabric & Craft Stores plan to open 300 new locations in the next five years, according to a June investor presentation available on the corporation’s website. The same presentation said about 30 Jo-Ann stores close each year, on average.
