JUCO DVD takes bronze at the Telly Awards.
The JUCO committee wanted to make the 50th anniversary in 2007 special.
Whether that was by putting together a 50th anniversary team or creating a DVD to honor the first 50 years of the Junior College World Series.
Recently the DVD itself was honored by winning six awards at the Telly Awards.
The Telly Awards accounts the finest video and film productions from all fifty states and five continents and the JUCO DVD won bronze in the categories of History/Bigoraphy, Sports, Use of Animation, Use of Humor,
Multimedia CD-ROM or DVD and Charitable/Not for Profit.
The DVD was made by local advertising agency COBB and Associates and took over five months to produce.
“When we started bouncing the idea around we didn’t want to make the same boring
15 minute video,” COBB Marketing Director Eric Mello said. “We wanted to put something together that set the stage for the next 50 years.”
The theme of the fifteen minute DVD is “I wanna play baseball”. It showcases local little league players and parents talking about the game then goes into Dick Maynard talking about the rich history of the JUCO tournament. Tournament Director Jamie Hamilton is also on the video discussing the accomplishments of the all time JUCO team and the players that have gone onto play in the Major Leagues.
“We are very excited,” Hamilton said about COBB winning the awards. “We were pleased when COBB said it would help and we had 50 years of great history to work with.”
