Junction textile artists featured in Aspen show

“Wind and Rock” is a fine art batik by Susan Metzger of Grand Junction; it is one of nine in her new Cycladic Island Cliff series. Her work is showing through November in “Textures,” a textile exhibition at the Red Brick Center for the Arts in Aspen.

“Textures,” a textile show featuring Grand Junction and regional artists, is open through November at the Red Brick Center for the Arts in Aspen.

A variety of fabric art techniques are on display, such as quilting, stitchery, batik and felting, with the focus ranging from realism to abstraction.

Admission is free, and the hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday at the gallery, 110 E. Hallam St.

Grand Junction artists who have pieces in the exhibit include Nancy Dobson, Kathleen Malvern, Susan Metzger, Gail Perrone and Susan Strickland.

Other exhibitors are Nancy Billings, Lynn Kerr and Patricia Neeb.
